Well-behaved dogs are welcome at our Westcliff-on-Sea, Leigh-on-Sea and Rayleigh stores. We know that leaving a dog outside or making a separate journey is not always practical, so responsible owners are welcome to bring them in.

Harry is part of the wider Vapour Central family and a good reminder that a specialist shop can still feel relaxed and human. The dog-friendly policy is not a marketing gimmick: it is a practical choice for customers who are already out walking their dog or cannot safely leave them outside.
The welcome still comes with sensible boundaries. The shop has to remain safe for customers, staff, deliveries and any other animal already inside.
Why we allow dogs at work
Staff wellbeing matters
We believe a good workplace should support the wellbeing and mental health of the people in it. On a suitable day, allowing a member of staff to bring their dog to work can reduce the worry of leaving them alone for a long shift and help the owner feel calmer and more settled.
Dogs can also bring warmth and personality to the shop. Many customers enjoy seeing them, and they are part of the friendly, independent atmosphere we want Vapour Central to have.
A relaxed welcome, with sensible boundaries
Our shops are working retail spaces used by customers, staff, delivery drivers and other dogs. Keeping the visit calm and safe matters more than pretending every dog enjoys every environment.
- Keep your dog on a suitable lead or securely carried.
- Keep them under control and close to you.
- Do not allow them to approach another dog or person without permission.
- Clean up immediately if an accident occurs.
- Keep dogs away from stock, cables and staff-only areas.
- Follow a staff request to create space or leave if the environment becomes unsafe or distressing.

What if another dog is already inside?
Give them space and ask before approaching. If either dog is uncomfortable, wait outside briefly or return at a quieter time.
