At Vapour Central, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainability throughout our operations. We follow environmental regulations and industry best practice in the disposal and recycling of nicotine-related products, packaging and electronic devices.
🌍 Environmental Commitment
We recognise that our operations have an impact on the environment, and we are dedicated to reducing that impact across our business.
- Compliance with Environmental Legislation: We comply with all relevant legislation, including the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations and packaging waste requirements.
- Reduction, Reuse and Recycling: We promote reducing and reusing materials where possible and ensure products are disposed of responsibly at the end of their lifecycle.
- Customer Guidance: We provide information on responsible disposal of nicotine pouches, packaging and devices that contain batteries.
🔄 Sustainability Initiatives
- Sustainable Shipping Practices: We optimise packaging size to reduce shipping volume and work with logistics partners aiming to reduce carbon emissions.
- Waste Reduction: We reuse materials where possible, recycle electronic waste, and ensure products are processed through appropriate recycling streams.
- Energy Efficiency: We continuously review energy usage across stores and storage locations, using efficient lighting and equipment while considering renewable options.
- Eco-Conscious Products: We promote rechargeable devices and products designed for longer-term use rather than single-use consumption.
🔋 Recycling Vape Batteries
E-cigarette batteries can be recycled, but they must be disposed of correctly to avoid environmental damage.
- Remove the tank, refillable pod or coils from the device.
- Place the battery in a designated battery disposal bin.
- Battery bins are commonly found in supermarkets, electronics stores, recycling centres and Vapour Central stores.
Never dispose of lithium batteries in general household waste.
🗑️ How to Recycle Your Vape Kit
- Disassemble your device: Separate battery, coil and tank.
- Clean the tank: Rinse with warm water once detached.
- Recycle glass & plastic parts: Use appropriate local recycling streams.
- Recycle metal components: Place in metal recycling where available.
- Recycle the battery safely: Use designated battery bins only.
🌱 Our Environmental Impact (May 2024 – May 2025)
In the last 12 months, we successfully recycled over 1.5 metric tons of disposable vapes across our stores. That is 1,500kg of lithium batteries, plastics and metals diverted away from landfill.
To put that into perspective, 1.5 tons is roughly the weight of a small car or around 15,000 average disposable vape devices. That is thousands of batteries handled correctly instead of ending up in general waste.
It is not perfect, and there is still work to do across the industry. But we believe responsibility starts at store level, and we are committed to continuing to improve.
