At Vapour Central, we take sustainability seriously. We’re committed to reducing waste, recycling used devices responsibly, and encouraging eco-conscious choices across all our stores in Leigh-on-Sea, Westcliff, and Rayleigh.
📦 Why it matters
- Vapes contain lithium-ion batteries, plastics and electronic components. If not recycled properly, they can pollute soil and waterways.
- Each week, we recycle around 300 devices per store, preventing harmful materials entering landfill and supporting resource recovery.
- Recycling helps recover materials and reduces overall environmental impact compared to disposing of devices as general waste.
If you’re not sure what can be recycled, ask in-store. We’d rather answer a “silly question” than see a battery chucked in a bin.

- Bring used disposables, devices and batteries back to any Vapour Central location.
- Choose rechargeable or refillable devices when possible.
- Dispose of batteries responsibly using store drop-off points (or recognised battery bins in supermarkets/recycling centres).
- Support eco-conscious brands available in-store.

🌱 Our environmental impact (May 2024 – May 2025)
In the last 12 months, we successfully recycled over 1.5 metric tons of disposable vapes across our stores, helping prevent thousands of lithium batteries and plastics from entering landfill.
- Energy: Our energy provider uses 100% certified renewable energy to power our stores.
- Waste: Our waste disposal partner follows a Zero-to-Landfill policy, ensuring general waste is sorted and reused, recycled or converted into energy.
Every choice we make, from energy to waste, is part of our ongoing commitment to a cleaner, greener future.
❗ Important update: disposable restrictions from May 2025
From May 2025, EU regulations prohibit the sale of single-use disposable vapes. Vapour Central will continue accepting pre-filled, rechargeable devices (for recycling/returns where applicable), and we’ll keep pushing practical, lower-waste alternatives.
